By Mhariri - Tuesday, August 7, 2012

A group of athletes from the Cameroons have fled the London 2012 Olympic Village, with alleged plans of finding better living in Europe. "What began as rumor has finally turned out to be true," David Ojong, head of Cameroon’s delegation at the Games, told Reuters. "Seven Cameroonian athletes who participated at the 2012 London Olympic Games have disappeared from the Olympic Village."

According to the official, the women's football goalie, Drusille Ngako, was the first to leave while her teammates were in Coventry for their last training encounter against New Zealand. Than there was swimmer, Paul Ekane Edingue, and five members of the boxing team, who followed her example.

Ojong says Thomas Essomba, Christian Donfack Adjoufack, Abdon Mewoli, Blaise Yepmou Mendouo and Serge Ambomo, disappeared from the Olympic village on Sunday. In all, 37 athletes came to London as part of Cameroon’s Olympic delegation.
